Outdoor Tip #27- Don’t tent camp in Florida in August.

OK, why do I need a website devoted to little ‘ol me? Well, frankly Scarlett, my zillions of loyal fans need a place to come and worship my likeness and work.

You may begin fawning.

Um, I’m kidding. Very seriously, I’m joking here.

The real reason is because I work in media. That means there are actually are a few folks (aside from my mom) who are looking for some of the content I’ve created. Therefore, I went ahead and built this website as a kind of virtual junk drawer where my clippings, links and random brain drippings can live.

At this point, a ‘serious’ personal website should include a biography and resume. However, it’s just too much work and if you get right down to it, I honestly can’t remember most of the stories I’ve written, videos I’ve appeared in and all the other stuff I’ve produced during what is now 40 years of messing around in newspapers, magazines, radio, television, government work, YouTube, websites, music, Facegram and Instabook. I might be mistaken on those last couple of platforms but you get the picture: I’ve got a short attention span, can’t stand still and I like to get involved in lots of new projects.

Most of all, I like to tell stories. Even better is when I get paid for the effort, so you’ll see lots of that kind of stuff here, along with some hot-off-the-press material I write just for this site.

That’s about it. Look around, enjoy the view, check back periodically and if you really want to help ‘The Cause," I’d love it if you’d subscribe. If you do that, you’ll get all of my contently goodness delivered right to your inbox.

And, by the way, you can always drop me a line: editor@gunspodcast.us

Some Reasons I Act The Way I Do:

What kind of person dives under ice? I’ll answer you: someone who didn’t think things through. That’s me sitting on the edge of the hole, trying to come up with a reason to immediately leave. Of all the stuff I’ve done, this was the most personally terrifying.
Ahh, the great days of shooting SWAT Magazine Television (in the days when “TV Shows” were actually transmitted over the air). I’m still apologizing to the producer about the less-than-steller first attempts at on-screen weekly commentary. Can you tell I’m so nervous that I’m almost ready to heave the hot wings I ate for lunch?
Ah, Yes. The infamous Ural Sidecar adventure. You can probably tell my buttocks have a death-grip on the seat but I ended up enjoying it so much I now own 2 motorcycles.
An armload of northern Indiana “ditch weed” plucked while flying with the Indiana National Guard and Indiana State Police Marijuana Eradication Team. Despite our efforts, we never brought the cartels to their knees. Estimated street value: $11.86
OK, indulge me. One of my personal favorite moments: playing guitar by hurricane lamp at LeConte Lodge atop the mountain of the same name in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. There’s only one way to get there and it involves boots and hard work.
Learning to ice climb in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah in February during a media event. I chickened out on climbing the big ice wall because I didn’t see how falling to my death advanced the cause of journalism.
Not to brag (too much) but I had to post this for those buddies who swear I reliably cause fish and game to leave the area whenever I go outdoors. I landed this big beautiful redfish off the coast of Florida, in my boat, all by myself! I’m a Big Boy!
Hunting elk in the Colorado mountains with the LaRue LBR. This trip ended when the mountain tried to kill us all with a blizzard, though I did get an elk!
